Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong makes her NCO debut in this season's concert performance of Norma as Adalgisa, a role that she sang last year at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Ms. DeShong has performed at the world’s finest opera companies and symphony orchestras including, the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra and Royal Opera, Covent Garden. Last season, she scored a triumph at the Metropolitan Opera as Arsace in Rossini’s Semiramide, which was telecast Live in HD to movie theatres around the globe. Other recent operatic engagements include Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Glyndebourne Festival and Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina with Washington National Opera. In September, she appeared in recital with DC Vocal Arts at the Kennedy Center.
Recent concert engagements included Schubert’s Mass No. 6 and Maxwell Raimi‘s Three Lisel Mueller Settings with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra led by Riccardo Muti, Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1 with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra conducted by Antonio Pappano, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Chicago’s Music of the Baroque conducted by Jane Glover, and Hansel in a concert version of Hänsel und Gretel conducted by Andrew Davis at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Upcoming engagements include Juno in Handel's Semelewith The English Concert, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito with LA Opera, and the title role in Handel's Rinaldo at the Glyndebourne Festival. She also appears in Handel's Messiah with the San Francisco Symphony and the Houston Symphony.
