Wounded and suffering battle fatigue, W.P. Inman flees a Confederate military hospital near Petersburg to cross the rugged terrain toward home and his beloved Ada in Western North Carolina. Along the way, he meets a cast of characters right out of Homer’s Odyssey all while being relentlessly hunted by the marshals of the Home Guard. Meanwhile back at home, Ada fights to survive not knowing Inman’s fate and struggling with her own. Will the lovers ever be reunited?

But eventually those words come back to haunt him, setting him and his innocent, love-struck daughter Gilda on a course for disaster. You will immediately recognize the parade of hit tunes from Gilda’s “Caro nome” to the Duke’s “La donna è mobile” and to the thrilling quartet.

This concert presentation of the Biblical story features a stellar cast and exquisite music by the great French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, including Delilah’s seductive aria "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix.”
